Community Outreach and Program Engagement Coordinator
As a community collaboration, Bridges Alliance of Johnson County staff works with colleagues and volunteers to further our mission of reducing poverty in the area. The Coordinator position is responsible for overseeing that collaborative work, but not responsible for doing all of the work, and so will be involved in many areas of the day-to-day tasks and long-term goals of the organization. This role reports to the Program Director.
The Coordinator role averages 15 hours a week and includes paid vacation.
Bridges Alliance Community Outreach Duties
- Engage with the community to build support for Johnson County Circles, fostering collaboration and awareness.Attend community events to promote the mission of Bridges Alliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available community services, including social services.
- Work as part of a team to put out BAJC newsletters, assisting with content creation, writing, and design.
- Share content with social media and marketing manager to tell the story of the organization via various channels and our own blog.
- Help keep the Bridges Alliance database current, adding and updating records of community contacts as needed.
- Lend support to fundraising activities as appropriate, including helping with grant reporting, special events, and donor relations.
- Along with Program Director, serve as a staff liaison to the BAJC Board of Directors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Circles Coordinator Duties
- Regularly attend weekly Circles meetings
- Work with Coach to create meeting content that is relevant and applicable for group members
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive culture within the Circles Community, encouraging participation from leaders, allies, and volunteers.
- Serve as a staff support to Leaders and Allies
- Assist in planning special events for the Circles group
- Assist with tracking indicators that help with outcome reporting such as attendance, progress reporting, and surveys.
- Recruit and oversee the 5 Resource Development teams
- With Circles Coach, work to recruit Circles Leaders, Allies, and volunteers
- Serve as a liaison to Circles USA, fostering connections and sharing best practices.
- Coordinate Second Helpings meal pick up from Johnson County Food Pantry and delivery to Grace United Methodist Church
Qualifications:
- A strong professional network in the community
- Ability to negotiate and advocate on behalf of the low-income community
- Ability to delegate tasks rather than “doing it all”
- Ability to remain calm amidst stress or conflict and to mediate disagreements
- Solid organizational skills to manage complex tasks with autonomy
- A flexible schedule to meet the needs of the Circles community
- Ability to provide one’s own transportation
