A nonprofit is as strong as the community that holds it up. Together, we can do more than we can do alone. Let's bring our abilities and passions together to affect real change.
There are many ways to join us and support our mission. Contact us to find out more about volunteer opportunities, fundraising events, and ways that you can get our message to your friends and family.

As a team volunteer, an individual would sit on one of our several teams that provide support for our Circles Program. These teams work on recruiting volunteers and participants, networking social services to our participants, managing our weekly Circles meetings, connecting our participants with jobs and educational pathways, and addressing community-wide barriers to a sustainable life. Each team would meet on a regular basis, possibly bi-monthly/monthly. Browse our Resource Team Brochure.
An ally volunteer is a community member who wants to be in a supportive, intentional, befriending relationship across income lines. Many middle- and high-income individuals enjoy a network of support outside of their families while individuals in poverty rarely do. Allies provide support, collaboration, and advocacy, not rescue. At these meetings training and support for you as an ally will be provided. https://youtu.be/YEa3yna9bRA
As community awareness volunteer, individuals network about Bridges Alliance and the work that is currently being done in our community to other businesses, organizations, churches, etc. Individuals could also help plan/organize/host community events such as special speakers, presentation of topics related to poverty, poverty simulations, etc.
As a food server volunteer, we would ask that you come on a Wednesday to serve dinner (5:15-7 pm). Food is provided. You would be asked to prep a salad and fruit, organize food for buffet-style serving, put away food, and clean up dishes/kitchen. You could volunteer on a monthly basis or randomly. Click here to sign up for a date.
As a child care volunteer, we would ask that you come Wednesday to provide childcare to various ages (6-8 pm). There would be some possible programming. You could volunteer on a monthly basis or occasionally.
A background check is required and we ask that you are 18 years old. Click here to fill out a volunteer application.
We want to share a list of frequently asked questions for potential participants in our Circles program, volunteers, donors, and community members.
Use link below to recognize or thank someone in the Bridges Alliance organization. We are grateful for all our committed volunteers and the tons of hours they put into the organization to make it what it is each and every day.
F.A.Q.
What counts as volunteer hours?
Anything you do for Bridges Alliance counts as volunteer hours. Attendance at meetings, meeting prep, data entry, serving a meal, organizing a fundraiser/special event, or sharing time with your circle leader outside of weekly meetings.
Why do we have to log our hours?
We understand going back and asking volunteers to do another thing is hard, but logging volunteer hours helps us track hours for potential grant data, shows our Circle Leaders and community how much they are loved, and allows us to recognize YOU for all the wonderful time you spend being BAJC's hands within Johnson County.
