Children's Specialist for Circles Position

 The AmeriCorps member will provide appropriate financial literacy education to the children of clients/constituents of their specific community as prescribed by the host site.   The AmeriCorps member will track performance data of students who take financial literacy classes.  The AmeriCorps member will assist the Circles’/  SCCAP Thrivi

 The AmeriCorps member will provide appropriate financial literacy education to the children of clients/constituents of their specific community as prescribed by the host site.   The AmeriCorps member will track performance data of students who take financial literacy classes.  The AmeriCorps member will assist the Circles’/  SCCAP Thriving Connection Coordinator &  Coaches with duties to achieve the success of the Circles®  Program &  SCCAP Thriving Connection through Circles Johnson County.


 

Responsibilities

  • Attend all Circles’/  SCCAP Thriving Connection planning meetings,  weekly meetings,  and financial literacy classes as prescribed by the Host Site.
  • Participate in planning of child development activities,  weekly meetings and other events.  Will work in concert with Coach,  Supervisor and Resource Teams with this activity,  as prescribed by the Host Site. 
  • Assist with the myriad of duties/activities to ensure that weekly meetings,  financial literacy classes,  and other Circles/  SCCAP Thriving Connection events happen in a timely fashion and occur efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure confidentiality in written and oral communications involving Circle Leaders,  children and Allies.
  • Develop understanding of Circles USA Child Development Curriculum,  Adverse Childhood Experiences and outcomes.  Work with Coordinator and Supervisor to develop Child Development Team to carry out SCCAP and Circles USA curricula.
  • Work with Child Development Team to provide assistance to families with homework help needs.
  • Be aware and follow COVID related safety parameters.
  • Assist with Volunteer Recruitment for the Circles Program,  /  SCCAP Thriving Connection Financial Literacy,  and other events with the Host Site connected to Circles/  SCCAP Thriving Connection.
  • Participate in data tracking of volunteers,  financial literacy students,  classes,  and achievements,  etc.
  • Participate in the Poverty Busters AmeriCorps program by attending required meetings (in person or via webinars/conference calls).  Also,  participating in the MLK Volunteer Day event and AmeriCorps week events.

  • Proficient in use of basic office computer programs and internet
  • Ability to work with people in non-judgmental ways
  • Ability to refrain from smoking or using alcohol while serving AmeriCorps hours
  • Will maintain a valid drivers license
  • Ability to dress appropriately
  • Ability to interact positively with community members
  • Ability to recruit,  provide support,  and evaluate volunteers
